Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Blocks Rent Control Ballot Question From the November Ballot
By: Massachusetts Association of REALTORS®

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled that the proposed rent control ballot question is unconstitutional and cannot appear on the November ballot. This is an important victory for homeowners, housing providers, and everyone working to increase housing opportunities across the Commonwealth. Throughout this campaign, local associations played a critical role by educating members, sharing updates, and supporting advocacy efforts across the state.

Thank you to every member who has supported this campaign. We look forward to continuing to work together to create more housing opportunities and improve affordability through proven policy solutions. MAR members deserve tremendous credit for their advocacy and leadership in advancing the housing policies needed to help more Massachusetts residents achieve their housing goals.
